After another shopping trip to Muji, I decided to create a list of my favorite items I have purchased from the store over the years. Muji is a Japanese retail company that specializes in a wide range of household goods with minimalist and functional designs.
The company’s products are often characterized as high quality and simple without excessive branding at affordable prices. This design aesthetic is reflected in everything from the company’s clothing and furniture to its pens and stationery. Here are a few of my favorite items by category.
Stationary
Muji’s stationery consists of notebooks, calendars & planners, pens & pencils, and organizers. I use this high-quality paper bind flat open notebook with horizontal lines for everyday notetaking. Its simplistic clean design pairs well with the 0.7mm gel ink pen. The paper feels soft to the touch and the pen writes effortlessly.
Cleaning
The Muji cleaning system offers all the essential tools you need to keep your home spotless. It has a modular design with one pole that can lock with multiple cleaning heads with a push of a button. The cleaning system includes mops, brooms, dustpans, scrubbers, sponges, and carpet cleaners. You only buy what you need which saves storage space.
I chose to buy the aluminum pole with an adjustable length of up to 45.3", and paired it with a broom and dustpan. The attachable broom also has an adjustable joint that allows cleaning at any angle. The gentle bristle brush is perfect for gathering dust and dirt in every corner. The deep shape of the dustpan design prevents the trash inside from spilling out. The dustpan can be stored together with the broom without damaging the bristles, making it a perfect cleaning set for just $13.70.
Kitchen
Muji’s beautiful stainless steel kitchen collection elevates my kitchen to another level. The peeler and can opener are simple and sturdy and fit nicely in my kitchen drawer. The light ladle comes in small and large and has a scale inside.
Accessories
Muji’s selection of products goes beyond household goods. They also offer a large selection of items in apparel, travel, cleaning products, and health & beauty. Two of my favorite items from their accessory category are the reusable shopping bags and umbrellas. The reusable bags are made from jute material and have a natural look. The handle uses a cushioned core material making it comfortable when carrying over the shoulder or while hand-holding. The simple umbrellas can be buttoned closed both ways and stretch to 23.6" when opened and have a 31.5" length.
